Managing Director

Mateo A. Perez, CIRA, is a Managing Director who works with lower middle-market companies, their lenders, private equity sponsors, and restructuring counsel to stabilize performance, protect liquidity, and execute turnarounds, including complex cross-border situations between the US and Latin America.

Mateo believes the best outcomes come from going beyond the financial model: understanding the operations, the people and the stakeholders, and acting early and decisively on what is salvageable and where value can be created.

Mateo has led 13-week cash flow forecasting, lender negotiations, operational restructurings, and Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 support, along with distressed M&A, 363 sales, and post-merger integration. Before Newpoint, he held senior roles at FTI Consulting and KPMG, and earlier in his career worked at Banco de México and the United Nations, with project work across the US, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Spain, India, and Hong Kong. He is a native Spanish speaker and speaks Portuguese and French.

Mateo is a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA).

Mateo holds a graduate degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University.
